We are a husband/wife team.
Clayton (the eternally optimistic, ideas type) first came up with his concept for a night lamp that shows progress in the summer of 2013. Tyler, our oldest, would turn two years old that August and we were desperate to find ways to train him to stay in bed past 5:30 AM. At that time, the category of sleep trainers was in its infancy--only a few items on the market. We didn't even know to look for something! After deciding to somehow create a visual progress bar for Tyler's rest, Clayton's very next thought was to make it resemble a battery since "energy" was what we commonly told Tyler he would get from his sleep.
Andrea (the more reasonable, critical thinking type) graciously listened to the idea and started by simply asking friends about any frustrations they experienced with toddler sleep patterns. On many occasions, play dates at the park became focus groups to explore the problem of toddlers and sleep and the myriad of ways parents attempted to solve it. As we explored the need, and began testing early sketches and models of the lamp, Andrea offered sensible, calculated input as we decided on next steps--and there were always many, many next steps!
Well, here we are today. Tyler just turned 10 years old. To say it's been a long road getting this product to market in 2021 would be an understatement! And the category has expanded tremendously! But the journey's taught us tremendous patience, grit, and determination.
Above all else, in these last 8 years, we've grown to absolutely love the great privilege of being parents (now to FIVE kiddos). We're passionate about kids and families. And we hope that discovering and using our Sleep Trainer somehow helps you and your family.
We'd love to hear from you. Reach out any time!
